“It all began with an idea.
We were growing amazing sustainable beef and knew we couldn’t keep it to ourselves any longer. It had to be shared directly to our local Families.”

ABOUT US

G’day!

We are the Scholz family aka Arura Beef. Our family of 5 raise low stress, free-range beef cattle and grow grain crops south of the Gawler Ranges SA.

Mrs Arura Beef is a vet nurse by trade and a family (and cow) photographer, originally from Port Lincoln and Mr Arura Beef has been farming this family farm with his family since he was born as they would say. When we are not working we are out exploring the Gawler Ranges and supporting our School Show Steer program.

Our worker is an experienced livestock handler and tractor driving expert. He’s also a dedicated member of our Community. More recently Mrs Arura Beef’s sister and family joined the farm and she has been soaking up all the necessary skills of cattle farm life.

While it is a lot of effort raising cattle, we love working with our herds and can’t imagine our farm without them.

ABOUT OUR FARM

Our breeding herd grazes on carefully managed farmland. They complement our cropping programs and sustainable farming ethos with their low impact on the ground they walk.

Our cattle are moved along regularly to maintain healthy grazing habits, preserving the integrity of our soils, plant cover, bushland and supporting the creatures within.

Native birdlife, insects and mammals alike come to enjoy our bushland and paddocks. Emu’s, kangaroos, bustards, lapwings, eagles, Cockatoos all come to feed throughout the seasons. Sparse grazing by our cattle also eliminated medicated worm treatments many years ago. We are constantly striving to improve our farms sustainability and impact on the environment, ensuring our children will inherit a thriving, environmentally friendly farm.

Being a low rainfall area, we involve new trials and research including using cutting edge farm technology to improve and support the soil we rely upon. Support nature and it will support you! We are hitting goals that we set years ago and it shows when you wander the paddock.

ABOUT OUR COWS

Our herd is a pure Red Poll breed whose bloodlines have been in our Scholz Family for over 4 generations. They are resilient, thriving, wonderful mothers and calm creatures. Some of our cows are over 10 years old and going strong. They know our paddocks better than us and this makes them quite easy to keep!

Free browsing pastures and grains on offer, our herd naturally access all that their bodies desire throughout the seasons and their life stages. This results in satisfied tummies and healthy, happy cattle that creates delicious beef. Our calves spend an extended time with their mothers, aunts and siblings in large range paddocks.

Our Bulls come from studs who have won grass fed carcass awards at recent Royal Adelaide Show comps, which was no surprise to us.

With the 2024 and 2025 drought, we had been hand feeding the cattle for a few months to ensure they maintained only the best condition and not impact the dry soils. They have all grown out lovely on our bales of hay and select rolled grains all grown on farm here. Pasture raised, fodder fed and now pasture finished. This range of beef will be extra tender, buttery and melt in your mouth quality.

Our Red Poll Beef is renowned for its tenderness, delectable flavour and versatility amongst the locals. We are excited to now share our product further afield.

Our family is confident consumers will appreciate their Arura Ag beef order, meticulously prepared by nearby local family butchers. We thank you for dropping in for a browse!
